Travelers may have the right to say that they are the first to offer eco-smart options to consumers. Shortly after Hurricane Katrina, a Travelers exec realized that the world could use some green help. So they decided to reward green drivers with a little thank you in the form of a 10% discount for driving a hybrid (varies by state). Today, Travelers offers this discount in almost every state in the U.S. They are so pro Hybrid that the company launched a separate website to help hybrid owners save money quickly and easily.
The green doesn't stop with auto insurance though. In March of 2008, Travelers announced that it will give special discounts and program to insurers of green buildings. Small business owners who improve or add to existing structures will receive discounts of up to 10% to encourage green building practices.
