Using a direct-to-consumer model for decades, 21^st is able to save on paper waste and tons of overhead that creates pollutants. The tree planting is facilitated by the insurance industry's favorite earth-loving partner, the Arbor Day Foundation.

Tree planting is not the only initiative putting 21^st on the list. The company's parent company, American International Group, has been busy giving back recently. The company recently bought carbon offset credits enough to offset half of the group's 620,000 metric tons of CO2. The Be Green program is also moving AIG up in the eco-friendly world. The initiative is intended to encourage employees to be aware of climate change by looking at some 30 different measurements. Be Green will do things like adjusting temperature in offices to save energy, expand recycling programs and source better, more sustainable office products.
